My beauty I believe
I personally appreciate Dove's advertisements, which emphasize the beauty that emanates from one's true self. These campaigns have effectively highlighted how girls of the current generation struggle with confidence due to societal beauty standards. The notion that "girls should be pretty" prompts a necessary exploration of what beauty truly entails — does it revolve around fair skin or conforming to specific body shapes?
Talk a bit about the beauty standard in Taiwanese society, there exists a prevalent beauty standard that promotes:
Fair skin
Tall height
Thin physique
However, the question arises whether adhering to such aesthetically driven ideals is conducive to a healthy self-image. It becomes imperative to redefine beauty based on personal perspectives, shaping one's identity and understanding of beauty beyond societal expectations.
From my perspective, the true beauty lies in being authentic and genuine. It doesn't require validation from others; self-acceptance is the key. While we might inadvertently succumb to the influences of peers, family, and the unrealistic standards portrayed on social media, it's crucial to question why our beauty should be defined by external factors. After all, what truly matters is accepting oneself for who we are.
